Yesterday (September. 25) was the day the gr.6 and 7 classes climbed Grouse Mountain! I woke up that morning really tired due to the fact that I was too excited to sleep. I had packed everything the previous night so all I had to do was eat breakfast and pack my lunch then I headed to school.
The morning went by very quickly we just needed to take attendance, get into our groups and start driving. It took around 30-50 minutes to get there, at one point I almost fell asleep in the car because of how tired I was. Finally we got there, I got out of the car, and the air was so fresh! I quickly met up with my friends; we waited, and waited until finally they told us we could go up.
It was really fun going up the mountain with 2 really positive people motivating you along the way. I also saw a lot of nature on the way up, at one point I thought someone polished the trees because they were so smooth. I was already so tired after 20 minutes of climbing, but I kept going until eventually we reached the 1/4 mark where I took a rest. After about another hour we reached the half mark, I was so happy that I hugged the tree that had the sign on it. I took a couple more steps and I saw one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, the sun was peeking through the trees so you could see the rays of the sun in a circle, It was so cool! After we saw that we kept going up and a little squirrel ran across from a tree and on to a rock where he stared at us for a couple minutes, it was adorable. Eventually we reached the 3/4 mark, me and my friends were so happy because we were almost at the top, after another 30 minutes I started to hear chanting, I looked up and we were at the top, we took a couple more steps and finished. My time ended up being 2:06 hrs. I can't wait till we go again I had a great time!
